Gundam model kits come in various grades, each offering different levels of detail and complexity:

High Grade (HG): These kits are 1/144 scale and are generally the most affordable and easiest to assemble, making them perfect for beginners. They have a decent level of articulation and detail but use fewer parts compared to other grades.

Master Grade (MG): MG kits are 1/100 scale and offer more intricate details, including inner frames and more articulated joints. They are suitable for modelers with some experience and provide a more challenging and rewarding building experience.

Perfect Grade (PG): PG kits are the pinnacle of Gundam modeling, typically at 1/60 scale. They feature the highest level of detail, including full inner frames, LED lights, and advanced articulation. PG kits are recommended for experienced builders looking for a complex and highly detailed model.

Each grade offers a unique building experience, catering to different skill levels and preferences. Whether you’re new to Gundam or a seasoned builder, there’s a grade that’s right for you!

To build Gundam model kits, you’ll typically need a few basic tools: plastic nippers for cutting parts from the sprue, a hobby knife for cleaning up any leftover nubs, and sandpaper or sanding sticks to smooth edges. Optional tools include tweezers for handling small parts, and panel lining markers or paint for detailing.

Gundam model kits come molded in color and usually don't require painting to achieve the look shown on the box. However, many modelers choose to paint their kits to enhance details or customise them. The kits are designed to look great right out of the box, but painting can add a personal touch.
